Most of the wickets in the worldcup 2007 have either been slow , or flat / shaved - not giving much help to the fast bowlers in the early stages ..
the only wicket that was green was in the match b/w pakistan and ireland.
thought cricket is considered to be a game with lots of runs , and ppl like to watch lots of runs being scored -
but this world cup , though, did not have many high scoring matches , but only had 1 low scoring match , and that was pak / ireland
that not beacuse players underperformed , but were given a green wicket -
investigators should also look into as to how come a green wicket was prepared for that specific match , where as no other match has got a green wicket -
wickets have been slow , turning or either new ones ..
but non as green as the one in the pak / ire match -
i can smell icc being a part of the bookies too -
and now again the death of bob woolemer -
i can only think of it as a drama by the police -
like pakistan , westindian police is more like a 3rd world country police , no clues and more assumption and preassumption -
and not much results.
they have also blamed wasim , aqib , and moin for being involved in drugs before , when they were on tour to westindies in 1994 -
and now again this case -
they seem to be after pakistan for some reason or the other -
no finger prints on the body -
the body was found inconcious and not dead -
so if he was killed, the killer would have made sure that there is no more life in his body, rather than fledding after making him inconcious -
no finger prints , nothing missing from his room -
nothing looked like being searched -
cant a person die falling off the washroom , over the sink and hurting his neck so badly that he falls down , choking his neck and mouth -
the possibility is very much there -
may be he was so much depressed and in pain that he lost control and fell over after the shower .
specially a hot shower can make things vague , and can effect the reflexes -
government finally is doing the right thing by sending its own investigators and its own team -
also someone was right in pointing that pakistani team shouldnt have been questioned a witness or accused, unless they had access to a lawyers -
may be something they said might be taken against them -
i think woolmer died a natural death -
let the case close - and let the people enjopy cricket .
With 2 power house - pakistan and india - out of the worldcup - the worldcup has lost its charms -
2 power houses out of the worldcup
a mystery death of a coach of the team
low crowd turn around
one sided matches
it is all adding to the mysery of the worldcup -
may be many ppl have asked to call of the worldcup -
more so now, cause the 2 power houses are out of the worldcup -
all the major sponsorship and ad campaigns - coming to an abrupt end -
investing million of ruppess in endorsements and adds - and in the end not paying off -
may be these corporates should also learn to make losses :)
business is not always profit -
with the team showing bad perfomances more than good performances - its time may be to change the sports ?
hockey for 30 years
cricket for 20 years
squash for non years at all
may be its time to craft the new sport of pakistan
football -
Inzamam ul haq after the team lost to ireland and did not make it to the super 8 round said that
"it was not God's will"
may be right in many ways -
Who would have thought of a tie between Ireland and Zimbabwe match ?
Zimbabe needing 14 runs from 30 balls with 4 wickets left ? and still game ends in a tie ?
both teams getting a point each ?
And then Ireland already gave a tuff time to South Africa in the warm up match -so having another upset was very much possible -
A few more upsets seems to be on the cards -
this is the worldcup of upsets - be it be the game or death of a particular team's coach.
this is the worldcup of upsets -
with India out of the game, I guess people will demand more to have the worldcup pulled off -
Woolemer's death already calmed the nation and replaced the tears of the defeat at the hands of the ireland to the tears of his death- but the pakistani nations' wounds will heal more from the early exit of india -
And in all probability they are out of the worldcup, unless bermuda comes up with another upset of the worldcup.
And looking at the face that the asian cricketing teams are unpredictable - pakistan, india, srilanka, bangladesh - bangladesh may come up with yet another unpredicatable performance by looosing to bermuda - which they should not -
So respect thy neighbour - if he didnt make it to super 8 , neither should you :)
Pakistan - what a nation-
the previous day the people were having mock burials of the coach and the captain , now they are lighting candles in his rememberance -
what an unpredicatable nation, and what a change of hearts.
In august, inzamam ul haq was the hero of the nation, saving nations pride by not taking on to the field in the oval test in protest on ball tampering charges - and now he is a goner -
He rightly announced his retirement, taking the wise decision of announcing his last one day match , rather than being dumped, dropped and forced out of the team -
The farewell he received from the crowd, opponent team and the guard of honour from his team mates was some thing special - some thing i have never seen happening to a pakistani player -
Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Rashid Latif, Saeed Anwer, Amer Sohail - and all the others were forced out of the team , dropped from the team and that led them to announce their retirement.
The world do not remember which match was their last, but will surely remember the last one day match of inzimam, which would be against zimbabwe, 21st March 2007.
On another point, our nation is as unoredictable as our cricket team.
Pakistani cricket team made it to the quarter finals of the 1996 worldcup, finals of the 1999 worldcup, first round exits in 2003 and 2007, and yet on all four occassions they received the same reaction from their nation. It is time to bring some consistency in our moods and the performance of the cricket team.
Pakistan's lost to Ireland by 3 wickets. The loss is not that bad as it may sound.
We did loose, but we did went down fighting by taking 7 of their wickets . It would have been bad and humilating defeat if we would have lost by 6 wickets or so, but loosing by 3 wickets must be considered as an even loss.
The super 8 is about to be reduced to super 6 -
with woolmer dead and big cricket powers out of the worldcup - this might well be the most boring worldcups -
The million dollar question surrouding the nation ..
how did bob woolmer died ?
was it suicide ? depression leading to heart attack or some poisoning, or an attempted murder ?
i keep my fingers crossed- that it is a natural death - else it would bring more questions to the already damaged pakistani nation ... sport and otherwise ..
it will bring more bad name to a nation already devastated-
i am keeping my hopes hight that it was all natural death .... and not an attempted murder.
thought the hotels must be full of security cameras ... i am sure this possibility can be ruled out more quickly.
And then another question , who could dare attack Geo television office in islamabad ?
Police ?
but on whose order ?
media is now a power house - and some one attacking the office of the biggest and most powerful television station is some thing ununderstandable.
thought president, primeminister and all higher ups have been left clueless, as to whose order the geo office was mobbed by police..... it is still unfound and like many other cases will be left unknown.
