AS per news report, Wapda is planning to have a new billing measure where electricity will be charged at various slabs. The electricity used at night will be more expensive than that used in the afternoon or morning.

One thing which the policy makers have missed out is the mechanism on how they will really know what amount of electricity was used in the morning and what amount of electricity was used at night or afternoon.
All electricity meters are placed in our premises or outside the premises. A meter readers comes once a month to take the reading and then we receive an aggregate bill.

What were the WAPDA people thinking when they put forth such a suggestion ?
This means they will be sending a meter reader at our location every morning, noon and night to take the meter reading for the specific time period / slab ?
Or they will import some new meters which will have time recording feature and will show how much electricity was used during what time period ?

In both cases it means WAPDA will be spending enormous sum of money to record the electricity reading at various time slabs, which may not be at all cost effective.

This approach shows an inept thinking of our policy makers, who just make statements without knowing its implication.
More so no newspaper or tv channel challenged or debated on this issue on how in real practical world, a record can be maintained for the electricity spent a a specific time slab ?

Please think before you speak.
